Tampa Bay lifestyle scene — is it really one of the best in the country?
We keep hearing that Tampa/St. Pete has one of the strongest lifestyle scenes in the US. Is this actually true or is it hype? We're considering relocating and the lifestyle community is a factor for us.
Best Answer
It's not hype — Tampa Bay genuinely has one of the top lifestyle scenes in the country, and here's why:
- Density of venues — Within 30 minutes of downtown Tampa you have Eyz Wide Shut (nightclub), Caliente (resort), Paradise Lakes (resort), and The Florida Treehouse (house parties in Lakeland). No other metro area has that variety.
- Year-round outdoor lifestyle — The clothing-optional resorts are usable 10-11 months a year because of the weather. You can't do that in most US cities.
- Active local community — Tampa has a large population of full-time lifestyle couples, not just tourists passing through. You'll see familiar faces and build real friendships.
- Affordable — Compared to Miami or LA, Tampa's cost of living means you can enjoy the lifestyle without breaking the bank. Cover charges and resort fees are reasonable.
- Proximity to Orlando — Secrets Hideaway is about an hour away, giving you even more options.
We relocated from Atlanta three years ago partly for the lifestyle scene and have zero regrets. The Tampa Bay community is warm, welcoming, and there's something happening every weekend.

Lived in Tampa for 12 years, been in the lifestyle for 8 of them. Can confirm it's one of the best. The only cities that compare are probably Miami (more glamorous but more expensive), Las Vegas (more options but tourist-heavy), and maybe Dallas (huge scene but everything is spread out). Tampa hits the sweet spot of quality, quantity, and community.
